Voice actors... Who's voice do you want to hear in the game?

You guys have no idea! It’s Mr. Bean…

@RGS
I can understand your point and you are right about most of things.
However, Sean Bean is a decorated actor as I said earlier. The game doesn’t have to find him specific role or make additional character just to be based on his personality. What Devs can do (if Sean Bean is in the project for real) is just put his talent in play as a random noble, a knight or a companion. No need to be the main character, no need to have his complete visuals in the game either. Just his actor’s talent and his voice.
@Grifter42 I can not agree with your statement than famous actor break immersion in video games. Signing a professional actor is a common practice, used to achieve upper level dialogs and atmosphere. I will give you an example - if you are familiar with Fallout 3, do you know who voiced the father of the main character? Liam Neeson. Well, I enjoyed his voice acting there.

I would love to hear Michael Caine, his performance in The Last Valley was stunning. And than Jeremy Irons, the Pope of course!

Charles Dance anyone? (Tywin Lannister from Game of Thrones)

I guess they would need another kickstarter fund-raising just to hire one of them…

Why not, I’m pretty sure it is possible to raise enough money that way. There were voices to make a famous actor one of the stretch goals…

Point of interest… Ron Perlman also did a voice in all of the Fallout Games (he was the narrator, and did a fantastic job if you ask me)

Based on what I read on the kickstarter page, I didn’t notice it (I read only about better voiceovers). Though, of course I hope what you’re saying is true!

Speaking of Game of Thrones… Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (a.k.a Jaime Lannister) would be pretty cool too, even though it’s a very upper class English he speaks on the show. Could also be fun hearing him with his Danish accent.

So long as the voices sound appropriate to their in game character I am happy as it enhances the game experience.
It is mildly interesting that a known actor, or person is doing the voice acting, However it has no bearing what so ever on my buying or enjoying the game.
As RGS pointed out, it may even detract from my gaming experience.

Well dont’t take me wrong - those voices were from people, not from the makers:)

It’s a no brainer
Personally, I think I should be in it somewhere, maybe singing in the background.

I agree! Robert Carlyle does a terrific job of voicing Gabriel Belmont in the Castlevania Lords of Shadow games.

I realize there isn’t a female “hero” (and please, I’m not advocating for one, that thread has been beaten to death) and I’m not suggesting spending lots on the female side quest, but with that in mind who would be a good actress for that role?

Iain Glen (Ser Jorah Mormont from Game of Thrones) and Liam Cunningham (Davos Seaworth, also from GOT)

I wonder if it would be better to hire some super star to do voice acting to a couple of characters, when they can hire a whole bunch of less known people, either voice actors or even theater actors. (I can very well imagine the game voiced by people that play in Shakespeare’s plays)

Is it vain to say myself ?

I’d love to hear a short intro narration (and any other 3rd person narration included in the game if any) voiced by david attenborough. deliverance isn’t quite a bbc nature special i know, but his voice is f*ckin chocolate for the ears, and i think his tone could suit something like an intro narration.

oh and of course sean bean, patrick stewart and brian blessed all have my vote. colm meaney too.

I very much like those narrators. Unfortunately I couldn’t find the name of “The Fall” Voice. The other one is David Baldwin. Maybe they’re both the same person.

@Treysceusec Ah, I should have clarified earlier, I meant nobody speaks in the over-exaggerated accent that everyone seems to think the people of the West Country does (if you listen to this song and this one, you’ll see what I mean by over the top accent)

Plenty of people still keep their original strong accent, but a lot of them are fading or getting softer in the more recent years as regional dialects fall out of use in favour of a more ‘educated’ sounding accent (which s a shame) or their local dialect is phased out because of schools forcing children to speak ‘properly’ and losing their original accents.

I agree that if the Devs go for English accents, they should find VAs who can produce a more authentic-sounding accent befitting the time period (if they wanted to go really, really authentic, they’d have to find someone to speak middle english, haha)
