Can’t wait, I don’t know why but I have always just liked the look and feel of Teutonic armor.
so far we’ve seen gambeson worn under breastplate and armor. i wonder if we can cover the breastplate with one of those velvety things(forgot what it’s called) or wear a tabard over it.
I’m interested in seeing a variety. I would like to see more than one kind of plate armour eg not just Gothic, but also the Italian armors. So long as they make sense in the historical setting.
Half armor, variety of light armors (cloth, scale, leather, chain), old left overs from prior periods and of various conditions eg Rusted or well cared for.
Would be nice to see if Peasants ever cobbled stuff for make shift armor.
gothic armor wasn’t available at the time of the game’s setting so it won’t be there anyway.
mail hauberks were used by cumans, usually in conjunction with mirror armor and lamellar.
in the west, poor and low equipped soldiers always seem to wear fabric based armor with some plate parts at joints and knees. the latter of which feel they maybe looted from corpses.
I’d like to go full knightly plate mail. Even better would be if I crafted in as a blacksmith.
I bet the armor is going to look incredible and well researched in this game.
Well, I guess I’ll drink like there will be no tomorrow, and everything I’ll have left, will go to buying armor. So… naked, most possibly. With a stick.
i always prefered the stealth approches when possible in a game, light armors that allows smooth moves suit me fine.
Plated mail is something seen in the Middle East and the Indian subcontinent. I doubt you would find it in 1403 Bohemia, except maybe a cuman?
Naa, I want to show off my nice plates man, you know shine the damn thing in the eyes of my enemies. plus if the leather is underneath i get a nice bit of shock absorption especially if the leather is thick on the chest.
My (silver)plates brings all the knights to the yard,
And they’re like
It’s better than yours,
Damn right it’s better than yours,
I can sell you,
But I have to charge
damn dude, that’s a nice looking silver plate.
as for my kind of armor? i like either full plate armor or brigandine.

i think engraved armors are from the late middle age, those technique in metal handcrafing (as the patterns on these armors or helmets) were likely from the 16th century.
lamellar armor for the win! I hope it will be in the game, but it might be hard to get if there are no cuman merchants. Clearly we need a joinable cuman faction to solve this problem. Or a option in the charactergeneration^^ to be a cuman.
But in all seriousness now it be awsome if there was a way to get lamellar armor ingame.
was just to give a bit of inspiration
anyway this is an armor of 14th
Polish Hussar Armour
Late to the leather armour party, but just wanted to chime in. As far as I am aware there is no/little archaeological evidence for leather armour during roman-medieval period in Europe. Despite all the sites in northern Europe with amazing preservation due to anaerobic conditions. All the evidence is historic (from texts or images).
From the Roman period at least, we’ve found entire clothing items, bits of decorative horse equipment, saddles, large tent fragments, nearly complete Roman shield coverings, mail, segmented armour, nearly complete weapons, tons of wood, thousands of discarded shoes, even wooden writing tablets - but nothing that looks like it could have come from leather armour with any certainty. (Although I am aware of an entire leather shield dating from the Bronze Age found in Ireland). There is some debate still about the use of leather for armour in the Roman period, but evidence is scant.
I’m not a medievalist, but in discussions of Roman leather armour, if leather armour had been that big in the medieval period I’m sure someone would have drawn comparisons to it - and since @Dushin seems pretty certain it wasn’t terribly popular, and he’s pretty knowledgeable, I’d go with whatever he thinks is best.
Oddly enough, if done right, it is possible to sneak in plate armor. However this takes A LOT of practice and the armor has to fit you perfectly.
